Monserrat Monasteryspain_routeSpain is a magical place mixing old world architecture and hospitality with modern European conveniences. In September 2000 took off for three weeks on a free-form adventure to explore Spain’s southern region.  We started by flying into Barcelona where we met and spent a few days with our friends Gerry and Byron.

We then flew south to Seville and rented a car to head toward the Mediterranean coast. Every town was so different from one another, proudly displaying their culture, history, and local customs. We found the architecture alluring, the people very friendly, and the food excellent.

On this trip the areas we visited were Barcelona, Seville, Rhonda, Marbella, Granada, and Madrid.  We also got a taste for Morocco with a 1-day visit to Tangier.  The sites, sounds, and smells were all so unique and fascinating.   Spain is a must see, and we plan to return to visit northern Spain on a future trip.  We’ve also added Morocco to our list.
